Preaching Lili!

Preaching Lili

Early one morning while I prayed, Lili, my four year old granddaughter, sat at the top of the stairs preaching to her imaginary choir below.

She spoke loudly, “God gets the monsters off of you. He sends them away!” She cried. “God is going to come into your heart. He’s going to love you.”

“We’re going to pray,” she paused briefly.

Then she started preaching again. “The WORD is going to help you! God loves you! He LOVES His children. He is going to love you a lot!”

She held her arms wide. “He loves you this much!”

“You’re going to need to pray — you’re going to do it! Close your eyes and PRAY”

Finishing her sermon, she clapped her hands, Praising God!

Take it from a four year old — GOD LOVES YOU!

Lili and the Wild Geese!

Lili and I walked over to the pond on a quest to photograph the wild geese. As I instructed her to be quiet and walk softly, because the geese are skittish, she bounced, twirled, and jumped.

I quickly started taking photographs all the while praying to the Lord to send angels to keep the flock corralled for a moment. Lili, on the other hand, walked off toward the geese on a mission of her own.

“Lili, get back here,” I hissed softly. “You’ll scare the geese.”

In turn, the determined Lili gave me a look that said — watch this, grandma! And I did, in amazement.

Happy Birthday, Mister Kaden!

My grandson, Kaden, is turning one this week! He is a precious child with a heart of gold and a wonderful disposition. And a smile will light your face when anywhere near him!

Snow! Snow! Snow!

airport - wpAs the skies let loose of a graceful snow and accumulated on the airport, Lili, my four year old granddaughter, decided to fix my hair. After drying, combing, curling, mousing, and spritzing she announced, “Grandma, you’re hair is a freaking monster!”

The next day this monster-haired granny took her three grandchildren, James, Lane, and Lili, outside to build a couple of snowmen.

The 1st snowman we named Pilot Snow. The 2nd — Fat Snow, but after viewing the photos he looks more like Boo Boo Snow!

Lili Juice!

Lili rocking outLili, my 4 year old granddaughter, loves to work in the office with me.

Her mother Kelli, knowing I was swamped in paperwork one day, repeatedly told Lili to get out of the office. “Quit bugging, grandma!”

Lili Juice marched to the doorway to plead her case with her mother. “Bugging is like caffeine to grandma!”

The Riverwalk Ducks

Kaden Got Milk

Kaden and KelliMy 11 month old grandson, Kaden, discovered his Aunt Kelli had a glass of milk, and he wanted some.

After guzzling a bit of milk, Kaden sat back and sighed, “Ahhhh,” and then grinned with pure joy.

Have you got God’s milk?

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. Peter 2:2,3

Lili, Jonah, and the Whale

Parragon publishes these great little bible stories for children. However while reading Jonah and the Whale, my granddaughter, 4, found the illustration confusing.

Jonah

Lili & the CrossI read, “On the third day, God made the whale spit Jonah onto dry land.”

Lili pointed at Jonah. “He’s dead!”

“No, he lived,” I assured her.

She shook her head. “He died.”

Later, Lili’s mother asked her, “Where did Jonah go after the whale spit him out?”

Lili didn’t skip a beat. “He went to see Jesus at the cross!”

Christmas Decor and Grandchildren

ornament Each year I gather the grandchildren together to decorate the Christmas tree — that’s the easy part.

The hard part is teaching the grandchildren the true meaning of Christmas, especially when the details can be summoned up with one quick phrase.

ornament So after reading the bible story, I ask the grandchildren a few short questions. It went something like this:

“Why do we celebrate Christmas?” I asked.

“It’s Jesus’ birthday,” the children chorused.

“Why did the wise men seek Jesus?”

ornament - 10“It’s Jesus’ birthday,” the children replied.

“Did the angels tell the shepherds about the baby Jesus?”

“Yes!” they joyfully cried.

“Why?” I prodded.

“It’s Jesus’ birthday!” they chimed.

Merry-go-dumpster

Since soaring season has ceased, I’ve discovered our family is amused by almost anything. When the big blue trash truck was spotted, the grandchildren gather in excited anticipation of a great dump.

Steve, obviously bored, joined in on the fun to watch the proceedings. Our family gathering at the dumpster has never been so bizarre. My prayer: Aviation — come quickly!

I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man. Eccl. 3:12-13
