Aerial over Route 66

Recently, we did a photo shoot over Route 66 Bridge and surrounding area. Meaning, I took my old camera and hung out the window of a Cessna 172 — without my zoom lens. Sadly, the long lens is on the fritz. My latest prayer/song is, “Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a Canon Camera,” with something akin to a Janis Joplin voice.  Just click for a larger view of Erik & Stephen in their 1-26 gliders.

7. How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 8. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. 9. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Psalm 36

  1. Lady D . ..I loved these! Your photos are so special to me! And you are brave . . hanging out the window to take them! That makes them even more special! God bless you as you take refuge under His wing!

    • Hello, Debbie. I don’t always like the bouncy ride to altitude, but I do like the fresh air and camera in my eye when I pop open the window. :)
Thank you & God Bless You!

  2. That is fascinating! “Hangin’ out my Cessna… snappin’ wi’ ma’ Cannon!!! aaiiieeeee!!!”

Sorry, couldn’t help imagining you soon taking these photos with your new Cannon, singing like Joplin. The photos are awesome! Is this THE route 66? Wow. God bless, good friend.

    • Hello, Mike. It is indeed THE famous Route 66 bridge. The same old bridge I cross over to go to church every week via vehicle bound.
Thank you & God Bless you, Dear Friend!

  3. Such lovely glider shots, you dont have to apologise for them Lady Dei, they are great. Is that the old famous Route 66, it was featured in movie Cars, I loved that movie. Do people still use it ?

    Thanks
    Ron

    • Hello, Ron. Believe it or not — I was out doing aerials today and singing, “Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a Canon Camera.” Actually, it doesn’t even have to be a Canon. :)
Thank you for the encouragement! And, Yes, we are located over a small portion of the original route 66. Pretty Cool!
      God Bless You!

  4. Lady D, you are a real pro at this thing. These are some amazing pictures. I thank you very much for sharing. God blesses!

    • Hello, Caddo. Congratulations! Your comment was not in the spam net!
And I don’t care for bumpy rides — they make me a bit queasy. Well, until I stick my head out the window! :)
Thank you & God Bless You!
